We are seeking an energetic, experienced Sous Chef (full time, with generous benefit package) to join our Dining Services Team. We offer two full service restaurants with fine dining and bistro style menus along with full service catering and special events, including wine tastings and other culinary presentations. Position requires knowledge of basic food preparation, breakfast, lunch and dinner a la carte and buffet service and kitchen sanitation with additional experience in one or more of the following areas: baking, sauces and soups, sauté and broiler, and advanced plate presentations.
Communicate daily with the Chef de Cuisine regarding daily production, staffing and sanitation
Direct day-to-day supervision of all kitchen staff.
Ensures that all established policies and procedures of the company and Dining Services are adhered to.
Work one-on-one to train and mentor existing kitchen staff to become increasingly skilled in food preparation and presentation.
Supervision and participation in the daily preparation of all foods prepared for guests in the main restaurant, bistro, two specialty dining rooms and room service, employee meal program and catered events at the facility.
College degree or certification in culinary field/hospitality field preferred
Minimum 5 years cooking experience w/supervisory and training experience.
Computer literacy required.
Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
Current Oregon Food Handler’s card
Primarily a day shift with the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Ability to work extended hours when business necessitated.
Excellent communication skills (verbal/written)and ability to collaborate effectively with dining services team other departments and residents.
Strong self management skills and ability to motivate and lead by example.
